The Porter House
The Porter House is located in the village of Millbrook, N.Y., adjacent to the Millbrook Golf and Tennis Club. The house, positioned in the center of the village, is one block from cafes, restaurants, retail stores and antique shops. Three vineyards are available within 13 miles.
This bed and breakfast is housed in a building erected by Italian stone masters in 1912. Ivy creeps up the home's walls to a gabled roof, and chestnut woodwork and hardwood floors complement Casablanca-style fans and Oriental rugs in the common rooms. Complimentary continental breakfasts, including fresh-ground coffee, granola and freshly baked goods from a local bakery, are served daily in the dining room. Pets are not allowed.
Guestrooms are decorated with antiques, vintage pieces and provincial fabrics. Solid-colored walls are offset by subtle fabric prints and selectively-placed dark reds. Beds are covered with fine linens and decorative pillows. All accommodations are equipped with private bathrooms. Select rooms contain antique claw-foot tubs, fireplaces and porches.
